Stoakes/Gilkerson:

Improvisation cello duo Ffion Stoakes and Darcy Gilkerson push the boundaries and preconceived notions of the cello. Ffion uses rhythms and techniques from his jazz background to complement Darcy’s beautiful classically trained melodic lines. As a duo, they drift between sweeping harmonies, driving rhythms and sonic textural landscapes. They showcase the vast technical capabilities that the cello has to offer through the fun and joy of improv.

ensemble i:

ensemble i is a trio of experimental improvising musicians George Worthy (bassoon/electronics), Olivia Jones (bass clarinet) and Moses Kington-Walberg (bass trombone). We met at AAO’s CMI in 2023 at beautiful Seacroft where we bonded over our shared love of low wind instruments, listening, beach walks and experimental sound.
