This Tuesday features sets from 'Aight (Finch/Hoyne/Andreson) & a duo set from Gen Kuner and Andrew Saragossi.
'Aight:
In modernity, when much of what we see and hear is confusing and overwhelming, where the minutiae of life appear fundamentally different, there is a calling for subjective understanding, a need for predictability. Whereas there is no rest for the wicked, there must be stillness for the good. There is one thing I can assure you, this performance IS for the faint of heart.
Allow for ‘Aight to envelope your tired body and mind with warmth, to smooth out your overworked and wrinkled brain. Succumb to the monotony of ‘Aight, a band which performs one tune, and one tune only until the end of time. Led by Robbie Finch, and featuring the very un-monotonous, and quite frankly thrilling musicianship of Matt Hoyne (Guitar) and Luke Andresen (Drums), this trio will explore the musical possibilities of the tune “It’s All Right with Me”. Where will they go? What will happen? Don’t worry about it. These sorts of questions are things you need to be avoiding.
One thing is for certain. This music might not be “tight”, it might not be out of “sight”, but first and foremost, it’ll be ‘Aight.
Kuner/Saragossi:
This is the debut performance of a new and exciting collaboration between saxophonists Gen Kuner & Andrew Saragossi. Sharing a passion for exploring the extended sonic possibilities of the saxophone, the duo bring together their unique approaches to the instrument through a series of semi-composed pieces and free improvisations.
Music from 8:30pm // Tickets $15 (or pay what you can at the door)
