Join Gather Round and Ffion Stoakes at The Brunswick Green on Sunday the 26th of March for an evening of stunning double bass and solo cello!

Jack Dobson, Indigo King and Alex Siderov present their new project ‘Gather Round’; centered around one double bass, the trio explores surprising interactions with the instrument through their unique physical positioning. Presenting a set of both improvised and composed music, Gather Round invites you to relax, contemplate and enjoy the magic of the double bass in the warm and inviting setting of the Brunswick Green.

Supporting is Ffion Stoakes, an improvising cellist. Ffion takes the cello to a unique level through his exploration of the vast range of timbral capabilities that the cello has. Ffion uses the diverse sounds of the cello within his compositions, which draw inspiration from Australian landscapes and soundscapes. Ffion’s position as an improvising cellist is distinctive, and he is constantly challenging the preconceived role that is given to the cello.
